Trial of Ascension

Trial of Ascension (ToA) comes in three different versions/modes/difficulties: Normal, Hard, and Hell. ToA Normal and Hard consist of 100 stages each, with every tenth stage being a boss stage. ToA Hell consists of 10 boss stages and has special limitations. ToA resets every month on the 15th so you can climb it and get the rewards again.

Notation

When talking about ToA you should always specify which version you are talking about.

The most common way is to use ToAN for Normal, ToAH for Hard, and ToA Hell for Hell. ToAL and ToAHe are also used to indicate Hell mode. Since ToA Hell was added years after ToAN/ToAH and is different from those two it is common to see ToA(H) as a shortform to mean both ToAN and ToAH. Just ToA is often used to mean ToAN by new players but actually means the entire area and you should always specify the difficulty.

ToA Normal and Hard

The only real difference between ToA Normal and Hard is that the monsters in ToA Hard have higher stats. Since v6.3.6 of the game (August 2021) ToAH100 also grants a Legendary All-Attribute Scroll instead of just a Legendary Scroll.

For floor 100 there are only two bosses available, Lyrith and Ath'taros. Those two swap places between rotations so in one month Lyrith is at ToAN100 and Ath'taros at ToAH100 and then the next month Lyrith is at ToAH100 and Ath'taros at ToAN100 and so on. The other boss stages also swap between rotations but are not bound to floor numbers (so for example Artamiel might be on ToAH80 and then on ToAN40 the next month) since they pull from a larger pool of potential bosses. The 9 floors before a boss are always fixed depending on the boss, for example if floor 100 is Lyrith then floor 93 will always be the Leo Ragdoll floor.

Every other floor gives 1 Summon Stone and all floors give mana. The full energy cost to clear 100 stages is 500 (initial energy cost is 3 per floor, increases by 1 after every 20 floors).

ToA Hell

ToA Hell is different from ToA(H) because it only contains boss stages and features special conditions which you can enable for more rewards. Beating a floor grants you 1 MS and 1 "star". You can earn up to 2 more stars per floor by enabling additional conditions (called "goals" in-game) which affect all monsters in the battle and you gain rewards whenever your total amount of collected "stars" reaches a certain amount.

List of Special Conditions

The following conditions ("goals") can appear in ToA Hell stages:

  • Applies 1 turn of Immunity when battle starts
  • Blocks beneficial effects
  • Immune to Attack Bar increasing/decreasing effects
  • Immune to cooldown increasing effects from attacks
  • Immune to inability effects
  • Increases ATK by 40% whenever an ally dies (MAX 200%)
  • Increases Attack Bar by 15% each when damage is received
  • Increases Critical Damage by 200%
  • Limits harmful effect to 1 turn
  • Passive skills don't work
  • Unrecoverable
  • 1 turn of silence effect when battle starts
  • 2 turns of counterattack effect when battle starts
  • 22% chance of getting an extra turn
  • 25% chance of stun when attacking
  • 3,000 Reflected Damage with each hit

Notes

  • "1 turn of silence effect when battle starts" ignores your Will runes, you need to bring a passive cleanser like Veromos to get rid of it first turn.
  • "Limits harmful effect to 1 turn" only affects buffs when they are applied, monsters like Pang that increase debuff durations can still do that.
